My Story
My name is Zack. Born and raised in Toronto, I am a proud Canadian. As much as I love hockey, however, I do not particularly enjoy the cold. So in January 2010, I decided to take a vacation in order to escape the harsh Canadian winter. Looking for fun, sun and adventure, I decided on Costa Rica. All I had booked was my airfare and one night in a hotel near the Liberia airport. Beyond that, I left myself three entire weeks to play it by ear and ‘wing it’ as they say.
About Costa Rica
I took each day as it came and slowly but surely made my way around the country with no reservations and fell more and more in love with Costa Rica each and every step of the way. I experienced the unbeatable sunshine, dreamy pristine beaches, truly majestic vistas, wildly exotic rainforests, breath-taking mountains, rushing waterfalls, rivers and lakes. I saw the cutest monkeys all over the country, along with the thousands of species of beautiful birds Costa Rica is famous for. I enjoyed world class scuba diving with sharks, whales, dolphins, rays, eels and some of the most unbelievable tropical fish. I met the most wonderful and friendly people everywhere I went and experienced their incredibly strong culture of love for life and everybody in it. And what an amazing feat – Costa Ricans are known among international researchers as #1 on the happy scale – they are the happiest people of any country in the world, and they live longer than most too! Without rambling on too much longer (as if I haven’t already done that) you can see why I fell in love with this place.
Costa Rica is one of the last purely natural places on Earth, where nature really is number one and we are really just along for the ride! Whether it be a hike through one of the world’s most breath-taking national parks, or perhaps a zip-line 650 feet over the canopy of the rainforest, there are all kinds of ‘rides’ to be had in Costa Rica and you will savour each and every one of them. And lastly, let’s not forget this is one of the safest places to travel, so rest easy, relax and enjoy my new favourite place in the world!
